THE PAGAN PATH
What is the Pagan Path? Depends who you ask... it's many different things to many different people, but all are on a spiritual journey toward enlightenment.
This spiritual quest can start at any place in one's life, as age is not important. Neither is background, Pagans come from all walks of life, from all over the world, from all classes and races, and all ages, even children.
The word Pagan, simply means Non-Christian. It's original Latin meaning was country-dweller, and the church used it to describe folks who had not yet heard of Christ (later this became a negative term). To understand what the Pagan journey is, we must first understand what it is not. First and foremost, it is NOT a cult, it is also NOT evil. Many Christians, religions, churches, and even Hollywood movies, have vilified the word Pagan, and given Pagans a bad image over the past several hundred years. This is unfortunate, because we are, by our very nature, welcoming, kind and caring. We seek peace and harmony with the Mother Earth, our fellow humans, and the Universe. We wish harm to no one, (well maybe Christians), Ok.. that's a joke, lighten up! We are even capable of respecting them even though they have persecuted us for 2000 years.
But, as our planet Earth moves into the Age of Aquarius, so too, do we move into the New Age. Hence, the New Age Movement. We have been awoken from our long slumber to take this journey into the New Age. We are called, along with millions of others to seek this journey and find enlightenment. We are coming out of the Pagan closet, where we have been forced by the world's organized religions to hide ourselves for thousands of years. The Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths, can no longer suppress our knowledge, or our numbers. This scares them, but they needn't fear us. We come in peace...
Paganism can take many forms. In fact it's so diverse in its beliefs, you can fill volumes. Is it a religion? Yes, and No... Much of Paganism is derived from Earth-Centered Religions. These religions often celebrate our Ancient past, and the great knowledge the Ancients had of our Earth, Moon, & Sun, and who were at one with Nature. Spiritual teachings of Ancient Earth-centered religions which celebrated the sacred Circle of Life, instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
In Paganism, you may find altars, books, rituals and even priests and priestesses, but you will not find an organized church such as in other religions. You may join in some group who thinks as you do, but you are not required too. You may pray to a God or Goddess, and in fact many seek guidance from several at once, but this is also voluntary... You need not pray to any god or goddess at all. That's the beauty of the New Age, you can choose any path you feel comfortable with to reach your own enlightenment. We can be Sun worshippers, Atheists, Wiccans (witches), Buddhists, Earth lovers, Healers, or countless others. We can be many things, yes, even Christians. Many Christians have become disillusioned with the church and it's constant control over them. We have no such doctrine, we will not force you to think anything you do not want too. We choose to think outside the "book" (the bible). We are not trapped by its narrow view of the Universe. In fact, our magickal teachings, knowledge, spiritualism etc., pre-date Christianity, Judaism, and Islam by thousands and thousands of years. We are the world's original religions practiced by the Ancients. Most of this knowledge has been suppressed by the churches, but not anymore. Our time has come... Welcome to the New Age!
